Our Rakomelo and grapefruit have a delicious relationship. We love a good Rakomelo Paloma, so based on that concept we decided to utilize grapefruit to infuse the simple syrup which took the drink to the next level, with the added acidity of the lime juice which balanced some of the sweetness of this cocktail, along with the bitters to create a super delicious and summer cocktail.
Yield: serves 1
- 2.5 oz Mastrogiannis Rakomelo
0.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 oz Grapefruit Simple Syrup (check out the recipe below)
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and pour with lots of ice, optional to garnish with some fresh mint.
Grapefruit simple syrup
Zest two large grapefruits and set aside. Extract the grapefruit juice, then fine-strain. Add juice, zest, and equal parts sugar and simmer low until sugar is dissolved. Cool down, strain again and store in the fridge for future use (this will make approximately 1 cup, can store for up to a month)
